The name Northstar Arabians is derived from two elements. The first is my family’s name, which is Vega and second, is the Vega star. Vega is known to be the brightest star in the northern hemisphere. It is a bright white star in the northern constellation Lyra.
One of the first steps I took to realize my dream of breeding Arabian horses was to define my identity and what I wanted to achieve. I thought about this not for days, or weeks, or months, but for years. I found the answer in my own mares. Their beauty, grace, character, and elegance are the foundation of my breeding program. They are my daily inspiration.
So, I had a name for my farm and the artistic inspiration of my mares. The question then became, how do I create a visual expression of their virtues and characteristics? I needed a farm logo. While discussing possibilities with a friend, they suggested something very personal and completely unique – a custom piece of artwork based on one of my mares by the world-famous artist, Judith Wagner. We contacted Judith and commissioned the painting. We then sent her photos of my mares and we finally decided on a portrait of the lovely Wieza Dynasty – she would become the face of Northstar Arabians. Judith quickly went to work. After numerous phone calls back and forth discussing the progress of the painting, Judith achieved a stunning portrait that captures not only Dynasty’s beauty and character, but also my vision for my farm. The portrait then became the primary element of my farm’s logo, which you see on the website and on all my advertising, marketing, and promotional materials.
