NORTHSTARS KIT KHAN is a dream-come-true. Her dam, Tawny Kitaen PMA+, is a three-time U.S. National Champion in Half-Arabian halter, and her sire, PA Kid Khan, is a multi-champion in purebred western pleasure.
Many of today’s Arabian horses are bred with a very specific purpose in mind. We believe that selecting proven champion-producing bloodlines within a given discipline increases the chance of producing a top-quality foal with the mind and conformation to do its job and do it well. That’s why we chose to breed National Champion Half-Arabian Mare Tawny Kitaen PMA+ to the handsome and accomplished PA Kid Khan. “Tawny” is a superstar show horse, and Kid Khan is the epitome of a western pleasure champion. The result, Northstars Kit Khan, is magic! PA Kid Khan is sired by the legendary Sundance Kid V, sired by the equally illustrious Desperado V, who traces back to the great champion-producing sires Huckleberry Bey++, Bay El Bey++, and the founder of the Varian Arabian legacy of greatness, Bay Abi++. For more than 60 years, the Varian name has been synonymous with excellence in every performance division of the breed. Sheila Varian added an extra dose of beauty by bringing the great Ali Jamaal into her breeding program, producing Sweet Shalimar V, the paternal granddam of PA Kid Khan.
PA Kid Khan’s dam line is a major factor in his prowess as a sire, thanks in large part to his maternal grandsire, Khadraj NA+++/, a national champion in both halter and performance and a leading sire of champions in numerous performance disciplines. The daughters of Khadraj NA are sought-after broodmares throughout the world. His pedigree includes the names of many of the Russian bloodlines’ greatest sires, such as Ponomarev, Salon, Padron, and Patron. These lines, noted for their power and presence, were crossed on the American-born Gainey bloodlines, noted for producing beautiful and athletic horses like Ferzon, Gai-Parada, Gaishea, and many others.
